My Essentials: Laurel Kinney
Laurel Kinney, founder of Trophy Boutique, an Austinite by way of New York, Oregon, and Maine is a personal stylist and wardrobe consultant who helps Austin women find their personal style according to their personality, budget, and body type. She loves working with savvy, creative, colorful ladies who want to take their style to the next level and really show who they are through what they’re wearing. And today, she is sharing with us a few things she loves and can’t live without!
- My new Linus Roadster (I have the marine version) I never realized what riding a good bike was like until I gave this one from East Side Pedal Pushers a spin. It was love at first site. I never want to drive a car again!
- Canon T3i Rebel camera: This camera is ridiculously easy to use, and I am not a tech person. I usually just push every button on something until it works. But this takes brilliant photos and videos without a lot of aimless button-pushing! I use it every day for my blog and my clients.
- My Swedish Hasbeens Jodhpur boots are the best shoes I’ve ever owned. They give every single outfit just a little kick of extra coolness and swagger and if I could wear these every day I totally would (but it’s so hot here!). I sold half of my clothes at Buffalo Exchange in order to afford them, and it was completely worth it.
- MAC Russian Red Matte Lipstick. I don’t wear lipstick every day, but when I put this shade on I feel amazingly put-together and ready for anything, and usually something fun always happens.
- http://www.shopstyle.com. This site is like the dictionary for online shopping. I use it ALL THE TIME when I am sending my clients suggestions for their future purchases. You can search by brand or by color, shape, type of clothing, or price.
- Marc by Marc Jacob’s zipper earrings: I got these on sale in Provincetown, Massachusetts a few summers ago. They are kind of creepy/kind of sweet, which is the perfect balance, in my opinion.
- Stumptown Coffee: I miss Portland, Oregon sometimes, and I especially miss the super strong coffee. My friends and I used to hang out at the original Stumptown location when we were in college and spend hours and hours plotting and planning there together. They now serve Stumptown at Elizabeth Street and Hillside Farmacy and I highly recommend trying the French pressed brew if you haven’t already.
- The Smiths: This is my favorite band of all time and I don’t feel an ounce of shame about it. I met Morrissey last year and it was probably the most exciting moment of my life.
- Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage and Moisturizing Foundation: This is seriously the only makeup I have ever liked. Period. It’s light and dewy and leaves no awful line because it just blends perfectly with your natural skin tone.
- The White Horse Honky Tonk: I sometimes try to go and have a fun time at other places around town, but I always end up here because it’s really THE BEST BAR ON EARTH. There’s free live music, two-stepping, cowboys, old men, hipsters, fratboys, and hippies. Everyone dances with everyone and has a blast.
